Thanks for mentioning this Ben.
I remember seeing this a couple months ago but forgot to post it up here on the site. I think it will be even better this year when we all have our new uniforms and people are able to recognize us as one team.
These ranking are kind of cool to give a general sense of how one's doing in the region, getting an "overall" ranking is quite easy, as you just have to finish a sprint, olympic and half ironman race (that is part of the ranking system for AA Sports). Getting rankings for individual distances is a bit harder as you have to do 3 sprints, 3 olympic distance, or 2 half ironmans.
Considering there are only 3 half ironman races that count in the series, it's no wonder there are only 10 males and 6 females listed in the long course standings.
Anyway, this is kind of a fun ranking system for our area, even though it is exclusive to AA Sports directed/affiliated (or timed) races. Check out the rules and ranking system here(http://www.trinw.com/pages/trinwframeset.html) if you want to get a ranking with this system this year.
The points system is a little odd in that it is heavily dependant on field size, and by how you place time wise in a race (as opposed to overall place, there is no benefit to "placing high" just being close to winners TIME). It's actually possible to have people ranked ahead of you who you beat head to head everytime. (ex. they race at other races where there is a bigger field and benefit from the "field size factor"). Anyway, this is kind of a fun way to keep track of competition in the area, and it's nice to see open rankings (no age groups, other than masters) since everything else is always broken in to 5 year age groups.

Thanks for the corrections Heidi, maybe you should volunteer as the 'race result poster', your attention to detail would be welcomed ;)
Sorry for missing anyone, I just scanned the overall....

Thanks for sharing and congratulations to all who placed.
For Long Course, there are 3 races listed for 2009:
Black Diamond, Troika and Pacific Crest.
I think I understand the point system, but then again
For 2008, was there no half distance at Black Diamond, correct? If this is the case, then everybody placing with 150 plus points should have done both Troika and Pacific Crest, no?
I cannot find for example John Mozena in the results for Troika - what am I missing?
Heidi, are you on it as the official race guru ;)
Maybe here is a reason to do Pacific Crest and Troika this year :p

I have to admit, I do love looking at race results :o , so if there's a need, I'm happy to do it. Just let me know what you want (format, location for posting, etc.).

I like Hans' suggestion about doing Pac Creast and Troika. What do you say Heidi? Start with Victoria, Pac Crest, and then blast through Troika! There's probably some bonus points there for volume of races.

Oh Mike, I would if Victoria and Pac Crest weren't back to back. ;)

Hans, Yes Black Diamond has always been part of the ranking system for Half IM.
These rankings started in 2003 (the first year of the Black Diamond races) because it was the first time we had 3 half IM in the northwest. Since then, other races have popped up, but since they have all been associated with AA Sports (who does the rankings) they use these three races to rank athletes. Obviously they can't expect everyone who wants to be ranked to do all the ranked races, therefore you only have to do two of the three possible options.

Thanks Ben, now there is order in Hans' World :)
Main task for the day: 3 mile repeats after a couple of weeks of taking it easy - a nice way of saying that motivation has totally lacked :(
Cheers, Hans
