Full race report will follow, but I just wanted to share that I got 2nd overall, and first in AG. 175pts. for our team at trination!!!
Here is the full race report:

This is the race that started my love for triathlons, and I make an annual pilgrimage back.

Two weeks ago I finished Boise (my first half), so the last couple of weeks I have spent in a “recovery” mode. However, I was wondering if I was using “recovery” as an excuse for slacking off a little…maybe.

Saturday morning I woke up feeling good. The race didn’t start till 1pm, so I took it easy, and gathered my gear.

I arrived at Lake Padden at about 11:30 got checked in and picked up my packet. I was feeling good and relaxed. I was taking on plenty of fluid, and rehearsing the race in my mind. I had a pre race meal which consisted of a Starbucks power protein plate. Then, I got settled in at the transition area (got a primo spot).

Before I knew it I was done warming up and stretching, and on my way to the swim start. In this race you self seed, so they asked for the 50 fastest people. It wasn’t that I thought I was one of the 50 fastest, but I didn’t want to finish any slower than that, so I stepped up.

The Swim
Felt really good when the swim started. Had plenty of good water to swim. Finished the swim in 6:36 over a minute faster than last year. Exciting!!!

T1 was smooth 1:11

The Bike
Had trouble getting clipped in on the bike, because when you exit transition there is a slight hill. So, after fumbling for a few seconds I was on my way. Passed a few on the bike finished in 30:55.

T2 went well :39sec.

The Run
Came off the bike and started to get some cramping in my calves, so I slowed my pace and the cramping subsided. Didn’t pass anyone on the run, but no one passed me ( usually I have many passing me). Run time 19:21.

Finish time 58:40 seven minutes faster than last year.

2nd OA finish, 1st in my AG.

This is the first time I finished a race toward the front, and man if felt good, and left me wanting more.

Nice work Erik! I just saw we had more points than the last time I looked and wondered who registered a result and then saw it was you. Stellar.

Erik, what can I say, this truly a breakthrough result. See I told you there would be some great adaptation post Boise :)
