Escape - my big weekend in SF

the race was May 2nd but the really big day was April 30th. See picture.

Mary and I both love San Francisco and have always had great trips here. So this year we decided to make the trip more than just a race weekend. We got married.

This was the perfect low key approach we both wanted. Mary's sister lives in SF and my dad made it here to watch the race, so we had some family in town to celebrate that night. It was perfect for us.

how's that for the start of a race report?

So after Friday, the race was just an added bonus. I won't bore you with too much detail. below is summary:

The race was as cool as ever. the best weather and water i have experienced here. I was mildly disappointed with my bike and run splits, but very pleased and surprised to get 3rd in AG. I made a couple mistakes during the race that cost some time and was slightly hungover the day before racing so I shouldn't be too surprised re: slower splits. I am extremely happy with the entire weekend!

Official time: 2:29:36 (72nd OA, 3rd AG.)
swim: 31:18 - 484th
bike: 54:13 - 54th
run: 56:00 - 78th

Did you keep any of your times from the ceremony? I hope Mary wasn't too put out by your watch beeping as the registrar started speaking and then another as they stopped?
