Chelanman Sprint

This was the 2nd year running of the Chelanman weekend and this year they improved greatly. The venue was changed to Lakeside Park which was were our hotel was. No driving time required. However, I was in the sun for two days straight before my race playing in the pool with the kids. This is my 2nd year of trying Tri's AND I wasn't sick.

800M swim/13m bike/3.1 run

4th Overall women, 1st Master! (18th O/A)
My swim, Bike and T2 improved greatly for me.

Swim:13:56
Bike: 34:39 (22.7mph) not the fastest but damn close by 30 seconds.
T2: 50:03
Run: 26.39 (8:35)
Total: 1:17:17

My swimming improved slightly over last years time of 18 minutes.

They split the women in two waves and I was in the second wave. I hammered to the first buoy and kept plugging along and followed the rope line.
Not much need to navigate and no veering off course. Ran into slower people from the first wave. The running, however, sucked. The day before, my legs felt great in 95 degree weather. Day of race, my legs just didn't want to move any faster after the fun fast ride I did. (My run average is 8 minutes or slightly faster in a race.)

This race was a nice boost to my ego (and my confidence back on the bike). I cannot compare times from last year on the bike and run, because they changed the course and this year had the correct mileage calculation for the bike. There were about 256 people in the sprint tri which is 100 more people than last year.

A well run event this year and I'm hoping to do the Olympic next year.

Re: Chelanman Sprint

Wow. Great job Nancy! 4th overall woman is very impressive. I wish we had seen you guys there! I yelled to your husband a few times on the course but he had no idea who I was (I only knew he was on our team due to the kit, I only found out afterwards who he was!)

Congrats! Sorry to hear Mark did not have a better day.
